The Politician’s Pledge
I will not campaign more than six months prior to the election in which I am a candidate.
I will not accept campaign contributions more than six months before or after the election in which I am a candidate.
I will not expend campaign contributions more than six months before or after the election in which I am a candidate.
I will return all campaign contributions that I have not expended in the election in which I am a candidate to my contributors, pro rata, except if the contributors have indicated that they do not want their contributions returned. Any campaign contributions which I have not expended towards the election and which I have not returned to the contributors, I will donate to a charity (or charities) which I have named at the beginning of my candidacy.
I will accept campaign contributions only from natural persons who are able to vote for me in the election in which I am a candidate, and not from any other entity or person.
I will make monthly disclosures of all campaign contributions and expenditures.
I will expend campaign contributions only to pay expenses directly related to my campaign. I will not use unauthorized public funds or resources for my campaign or for other political purposes. I will not accept paid or volunteer services for my campaign from any person on a government payroll, part-time or full-time.
If elected or appointed to public office, I will not accept anything of monetary value from any lobbyist or similar person or entity (except small gifts from family members).
If elected or appointed to public office, I will not use said office to further the employment or careers or investments of family members in the public sector.
I will campaign for public office with decorum and serve in public office for only the public good.
